Font design worksheet
Run a font design workshop as part of your Make Our Book project
This pack contains a worksheet, with five examples to show the children before they start, and comes with its own PowerPoint slide deck for you to use.
From the teacher notes:
Supports Key stage 2 objectives.
“Pupils should be taught to develop their techniques, including their control and their use of materials, with creativity, experimentation and an increasing awareness of different kinds of art, craft and design.”
At the start of the session
Introduce the idea of serif and sans serif fonts:
“A serif font has flicks at the end of the letter’s lines. A sans-serif font has plain lines.”
Describe the aim of the session:
“You are going to be able to design your own font! You will draw the first letter today. It can be serif or sans-serif, lower case or upper case. It needs to be clearly seen, so make it big!"A screenshot of the PowerPoint slides
